    Campanula 'Sarastro'. From mats of soft pale green hairy leaves come tall waving stems hung with rich deep purple bells. Similar to Kent Belle, but more mauve in colour with dark buds, longer bells, a more compact habit and longer flowering season. Loved by the bees. 60cm.  Sarastro is the name of an Austrian Nursery and also the second character to die in The Magic Flute.

    (Ivory Towers, Ivory Bells) Campanula alliariifolia is a picture of elegance and refinement with its tall spires hung generously with creamy white bells enhanced by the darker calyces. A beautiful bellflower for sun or part shade so long as not too dry. Grows from a single central rootstock rather than a spreading mat. Leaves are a soft hairy texture. 70cm. Alliaria, whose leaves this Campanula resembles is Hedge Mustard. Naturally found in the Russian Caucasus and Asia Minor

    Clustered Bellflower. Pure white flowers are clusterd at the top of the 30cm stems as well as in the axils of the leafy bracts along its length. A compact glistening white form of one of our native bellflowers. Native across most of Europe, including England where the purple form grows wild on chalk downs. Elsewhere it grows in hedge margins and in mountain meadows. 30cm, June to August. Good for cutting and for bees.

Dorset Perennials – plants direct from the heart of Dorset.

At Dorset Perennials you will find a husband and wife team, Dawn and Martin, who have been plantsmen and nurserymen for nearly 25 years. Our nursery, situated in the North of Dorset close to the Somerset border, is full of the plants we love. There’s no overall theme, just an eclectic mix of perennials that, for one reason or another, we consider well worth growing. We have plants for shade, plants for sun, plants for wildlife and a few more just because. In short all the perennials you would ever need to make a garden full of colour throughout the year and full of the plants you need to make it hum with wildlife. We’ve tried to make this website full of inspirational colour and easy to use. The shop page has a nifty plant selector sidebar which can be used to filter our plants by size, colour season and so forth to help you quickly pin down the right plant for a particular spot. We’ve added picture pages showing plant associations to inspire you, or if you need a little advice just give us a call.
