Potsize – 9cm
This lovely form of our native wood anemone is one of the earliest strains to flower. It opens pale pink, almost white from darker buds and gradually gains a deeper shade as it smiles up at the sun. It has a dark pink reverse. As the sun dips the petals close to sleep for the night, denying access to the early insects, particularly hoverflies, which enjoy its nectar source. It colonises well in woodland or summer shady conditions and can even tolerate dry shade. It grows 8 – 15cm high. Spring flowering and usually dormant by high summer.
