(Decadence Series) This variety has come out of a new breeding program in the USA, combining the best characteristics of the various Baptisia species. This is a relatively compact plant at 75 to 90cm tall, well clothed with foliage down quite low. The Flower spikes are a very unusual velvety chocolate purple with a hint of yellow peeping through at the base. Like all Baptisia it is best in full sun, tolerating low nutrient soils. They can take a year or two to really settle in and show their full potential. Bred by Hans Hansen from Michigan.

Baptisia come from the North America and the Latin name comes from the Greek for dye as many species yield an indigo-like dye.

At Dorset Perennials you will find a husband and wife team, Dawn and Martin, who have been plantsmen and nurserymen for nearly 25 years. Our nursery, situated in the North of Dorset close to the Somerset border, is full of the plants we love.
