Begonia discolor. A lovely foliage plant producing lush clumps of tropical leaves for a semi shady position. Typical Begonia leaves with rich red stems and gorgeous red veining on the reverse. Flowers cream late in Summer. Surprisingly hardy and tolerant of dry shade once well established although best with moisture and good drainage. Towards Autumn, tiny bulbils form in the leaf axils. The collapsing stems spread these about and allow the plant to spread and form a colony. Native to Japan, China, and Malaysia

At Dorset Perennials you will find a husband and wife team, Dawn and Martin, who have been plantsmen and nurserymen for nearly 25 years. Our nursery, situated in the North of Dorset close to the Somerset border, is full of the plants we love. There’s no overall theme, just an eclectic mix of perennials that, for one reason or another, we consider well worth growing. We have plants for shade, plants for sun, plants for wildlife and a few more just because. In short all the perennials you would ever need to make a garden full of colour throughout the year and full of the plants you need to make it hum with wildlife.
