Description
Delphinium ‘Black-eyed Angels’ (New Millennium Series)
Sensational, bright-white semi-double flowers form large solid spikes of showy flowers each with a black bee. 120-160cm. A cut above your average Delphinium in terms of colour, flower shape and overall strong and sturdy garden performance. Has improved Winter hardiness due to tolerance of warm and humid climates. Flowers June-September
As the spectacular showy flower spikes can stand up to 160cm tall they will need some support to protect the heavy stems from the wind. Flowers first arrive in June but will re-flower again in late Summer or Autumn if cut down after flowering. Responds to good soil and lots of feeding. Protect from slugs from Christmas onwards to prevent the subterranean slugs from damaging the buds before they get out of the ground. A New Millenium F1 Hybrid. Protect from slugs HARMFUL IF EATEN
There is a peak in slug egg laying in December when they lay eggs in places where their young can feed well. Sort of having your babies in the larder. Hence they often lay in the crowns of plants like Delphinium. The young slugs hatch just as the new shoots start to grow and off they munch. This is why your Delphinium often fails to appear – its being eaten before it ever gets out of the ground. Hence, slug pellet at Christmas for best results.
