Potsize – 1L
Rough horsetail, Scouring rush, Scouring rush horsetail and Snake grass (SA). Found in seasonally wet and flooding areas across much of the Northern Hemisphere. The leaves have been variously used to scour pans, boiled and dried as sandpaper in Japan and to shape the reeds for woodwind instruments. Spreading clumps of 3ft tall hollow tubular stems with distinctive dark nodes striping them all the way up. The stems are evergreen and as such useful for structure throughout the Winter in a bog garden, however take note that the word spreading comes with no qualification – they will do it indefinitely and with gusto!
