Potsize – 1L
A lovely compact pineapple lily with dwarf apple green strap-like leaves with nice rippled edge. In July, short spikes crowded with pure white starry flowers are produced, each spike topped with an apple green tufty top knot. The display lasts extremely well into September. The foliage collapses at the first frost and the bulbs remain dormant until late Spring. 14″ Southern Africa. Eucomis can be hardy in the garden if planted really deep (5″ ) in really well drained soil and given a thick mulch both to insulate and keep the soil drier. They don’t enjoy winter wet or the slugs that like these conditions. So, if you can’t provide these conditions with surety you can grow them in pots and bring them into the green house, conservatory or garage for Winter. Repot or feed well from early Summer when growth resumes.
