Rosy-pink edged, white 4 petalled flowers are daintily held on long arching stems which sway in the breeze like wands of fluttering butterflies. Undeniably girly blooms open from red buds. The new shoots are quite strongly yellow variegated but as the leaves mature and the flowers develop, the variegation becomes a subtle silvery cream edge on grey-green leaves. In cooler weather it can take on burgundy tints. reasonably hardy given a sunny position, sharp drainage and shelter from the East winds of February. Quite fast growing so allow enough space – it will flop if not supported. 75cm. Very long flowering from May until the frosts.
If you came by this plant via Oenothera, you may think it odd, but some now place all of Gaura within Oenothera.
