Kirengeshoma palmata . Handsome perennial which is related to Hydrangea. Crowns throw up 1m high stems of broad, opposing apple green leaves, topped in summer with loose drooping clusters of funnel-shaped, waxy yellow flowers. Moist, humus rich, lime-free soil in dappled shade. The leaf shape is somewhat like an elongated Norway Maple leaf. From Japan.

There is a second species, Kirengeshoma koreana which is distinguished by stiffly upright flower stalks. There is debate as to whether these two species should be separate or one  a subspecies of the other.
