Potsize – 1L
Leucojum aestivum. Summer Snowflake, Loddon Lily. These are bulbs of great distinction and grace, a bit like what you would get if you could cross a snowdrop and a daffodil. The leaves are produced at about the same time as the daffodils and are long and rich green. The flowers however are quite a different matter. Up to 6 to the stem they are hanging 6 pointed starry bells, pure white with the tip of each petal picked out in green, just like the coralloa tube on a snowdrop. The Latin name comes from the Greek for Spring and Violet, referring to the delicate perfume of the flower. Leucojum aestivum comes from wet fields and woodlands and even in swamps near rivers. It is very suitable for naturalising in damp grassland.
