However each one is recurved so that the leaf has quite a dense structure but made up of the finest of elements. Think green cloud and you get somewhat of an idea. When in flower it carries numerous typical cow-parsley umbels of pure white flowers. This is a monocarpic species, that is one that builds up to flowering over 2 to 3 years and then unfortunately dies. for sun to part shade, tolerating some dryness. 60cm

The name is derived from the Liguria region of Italy. Several members of the family yield useful medicinal compound with anti-infammatory properties. Ligusticum scoticum, now naturalised around the coast was once used as a boiled vegetable like celery
