Reineckea carnea. It may be hard to believe that this plant belongs to the same family as asparagus, agaves and Hostas as it is such a modest little plant producing mats of lily like pale apple green foliage. It is very useful for shady evergreen groundcover, contrasting with bolder foliage of cyclamen, arum or epimedium. In flower it resembles a pink lily of the valley, but these are shyly produced unless grown in sun, where its understated charms are more likely to be eclipsed by more flambouyant brethren.
