Trollius x cultorum ‘Alabaster’. Lovely inwardly curved blooms in a subtle ivory with hints of green. Not a plant to outshine the Dahlias, but one that will outclass them by a mile. This is the original pale cream Globeflower and a much sought after cultivar. Trollius are the buttercups refined and cultured relatives, having leaves of a more divided texture and flowers with petals that curl inwards so that many blooms are almost spherical. They Originate in sunny damp meadows and streamsides, but in the garden will grow in any soil that does not dry out where they will grow into substantial, but tight clumps. Their preference is for a heavier soil.
